STROKE INDEX 9

Hole 1 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 432 YARDS | YELLOW 422 YARDS | RED 432 YARDS PAR 5 SI 13

Challenging opener and an accurate drive required. A good drive will get assistance from a gently sloping hill with left to right fairway. Raised green requires correct club selection.

Hole 2 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 3

Hole 2 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 448 YARDS | YELLOW 425 YARDS | RED 413 YARDS PAR 5 SI 11

Two long accurate shots needed to get close to the green. First half of hole has fairway which slopes right to left, hedgerow all the way down the right. Long green requires correct club selection

Hole 3 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 13

Hole 3 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 336 YARDS | YELLOW 330 YARDS | RED 326 YARDS SI 1

Dog leg left requires a drive to the plateau, which leaves an iron into a raised, wide, shallow green. Putting is a premium on a tricky sloping back to front green.

Hole 4 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 1

Hole 4 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 416 YARDS | YELLOW 408 YARDS | RED 354 YARDS SI 5

This par 4 has a wide fairway, gently sloping uphill and left to right. Long drives will make the part of the fairway that levels out in order to see the bottom of the flag for your second shot. Trouble left all the way for the second half of the hole.

Hole 5 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 15

Hole 5 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 398 YARDS | YELLOW 369 YARDS | RED 346 YARDS SI 7

Dog hole left. After a brutal first four holes hole 5 offers up a birdie opportunity. Bigger hitters will take on the bunkers on the left hand side of the fairway leaving a shorter approach shot to a generous green.

Hole 6 Par 3
STROKE INDEX 7

Hole 6 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 185 YARDS | YELLOW 171 YARDS | RED 140 YARDS SI 15

Can often play longer than yardage suggests with wind and uphill adding a club or 2. The green is well protected by bunkers. A par is a good score here.

Hole 7 Par 5
STROKE INDEX 11

Hole 7 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 497 YARDS | YELLOW 472 YARDS | RED 398 YARDS PAR 4 SI 3

Downhill, gently sloping left to right fairway offers a generous target to those looking to pick up a shot on a hole that tends to play shorter than its distance suggests. Well guarded two tier green

Hole 8 Par 3
STROKE INDEX 17

Hole 8 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 166 YARDS | YELLOW 147 YARDS | RED 147 YARDS

Downhill offering an appealing approach to a wide, deep green. Sloping green with subtle undulations makes putting far from easy on what looks like a straight forward hole

Hole 9 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 5

Hole 9 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 473 YARDS | YELLOW 460 YARDS | RED 446 YARDS PAR 5 SI 9

Long demanding hole to finish off the more difficult of the two 9’s. Elevated tee shot is visually appealing, but the fairway narrows the further you drive leaving a blind second shot uphill to a green surrounded by bunkers. Two good shots required to reach this green in regulation.

Hole 10 Par 5
STROKE INDEX 6

Hole 10 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 519 YARDS | YELLOW 500 YARDS | RED 455 YARDS SI 4

Longest hole on the course is straight uphill which plays every yard of it’s length. OOB all the way up the right and a well guarded two tier green leaves a tough start to the back 9. Only the longest hitters reach in 2 shots which will offer up the chance of a birdie.

Hole 11 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 2

Hole 11 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 451 YARDS | YELLOW 388 YARDS | RED 376 YARDS

An intimidating driving hole from the back tees with a copse on the right and hedge row and bunkers left it gives the impression of a tighter tee shot than it is. Once out in the open you will be left with a long 2nd into a deep guarded green. Par is a great score here

Hole 12 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 12

Hole 12 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 357 YARDS | YELLOW 345 YARDS | RED 330 YARDS SI 8

A tee shot down the left hand side will feed into the middle of the fairway leaving a short but tricky shot into a well guarded raised green. Short hole but tough approach leaves it far from straight forward

Hole 13 Par 3
STROKE INDEX 8

Hole 13 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 157 YARDS | YELLOW 139 YARDS | RED 124 YARDS SI 18

Very pretty short hole surrounded by trees left and right. Miss the green at your peril.

Hole 14 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 18

Hole 14 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 318 YARDS | YELLOW 309 YARDS | RED 288 YARDS SI 14

Short par 4 which the big hitter will get close to. A drive up the right will feed down leaving a short approach to a small green. Birdie opportunity.

Hole 15 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 14

Hole 15 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 367 YARDS | YELLOW 367 YARDS | RED 348 YARDS SI 12

The start of a very beautiful home run. An elevated tee shot with trees right and left can be very demanding, especially when windy. A fairway or rescue is often taken to leave a mid iron to a left to right sloping green that often feeds down to the hole

Hole 16 Par 5
STROKE INDEX 4

Hole 16 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 491 YARDS | YELLOW 483 YARDS | RED 477 YARDS SI 6

An accurate drive down the left side will feed to the middle and should leave you with a great opportunity to make a birdie on this short par 5. Miss the fairway and a host of trouble awaits you both left and right.

Hole 17 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 10

Hole 17 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 311 YARDS | YELLOW 302 YARDS | RED 284 YARDS

Risk or reward. The longest of hitters need to be very accurate on this short par 4 which gets narrower the further you hit it. A real risk or reward hole. The smart play is an iron or fairway wood to the bottom of the fairway leaving you a short to mid iron up to a raised green. Bunkers at front and a pit at the back of the green require correct club selection

Hole 18 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 16

Hole 18 on The Cathedral Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 163 YARDS | YELLOW 148 YARDS | RED 154 YARDS

A short to mid iron is needed to a green well protected by bunkers.

Hit this narrow green and a par is on the cards

The Bibury Course

The Bibury course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Club has some of the oldest holes in Wiltshire and has been developed from the Old Course of the Club dating from 1888. It provides an enjoyable and fair test, and it is well established with mature greens and fairways.

The golf holes are easy walking, bordering and occasionally even playing over Salisbury Race Course, and the wonderful views across the Wiltshire landscape towards Salisbury and Old Sarum are really something special.

Hole 1 Par 3
STROKE INDEX 8

Hole 1 on The Bibury Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 131 YARDS | YELLOW 123 YARDS | RED 109 YARDS

A tricky opening par 3. A high tee shot is by far the easiest way to avoid the large tree short left of the green

Hole 2 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 2

Hole 2 on The Bibury Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 461 YARDS | YELLOW 435 YARDS | RED 425 YARDS

A fairly simple drive and most players will be left with a mid iron playing the approach over a track. Placement is key on the green which can provide some difficult putts

Hole 3 Par 3
STROKE INDEX 9

Hole 3 on The Bibury Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 153 YARDS | YELLOW 151 YARDS | RED 151 YARDS

Second Par 3 and slightly longer than the 1st, but a good opportunity for a 2. Most players will select a mid iron and play straight at the fairly unprotected green.

Hole 4 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 7

Hole 4 on The Bibury Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 318 YARDS | YELLOW 315 YARDS | RED 256 YARDS

A difficult tee shot playing over the racecourse. The longer the drive the wider the landing area. An elevated green normally plays a short iron, but anything played left is usually swallowed up by the green-side bunker

Hole 5 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 6

Hole 5 on The Bibury Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 352 YARDS | YELLOW 336 YARDS | RED 295 YARDS

A good opportunity for a birdie. A narrow fairway leads to a green that has little danger. Avoid the hedgerow on the left and you are usually set for a good score.

Hole 6 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 3

Hole 6 on The Bibury Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 369 YARDS | YELLOW 362 YARDS | RED 356 YARDS

Running parallel to the racecourse this is a tight fairway. A well placed fairway bunker on the left is one to avoid. Most are left with a mid iron into a green that you do not want to be long of. Club selection is the key.

Hole 7 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 1

Hole 7 on The Bibury Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 444 YARDS | YELLOW 429 YARDS | RED 399 YARDS

By many this is known as the most difficult Par 4 in the County. Running parallel to the racecourse again, the fairway will kick anything down to the right hand side. For even the longest of hitters a second shot will require a long iron or wood into an extremely difficult landing area. A bogey is a good score here.

Hole 8 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 5

Hole 8 on The Bibury Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 233 YARDS | YELLOW 233 YARDS | RED 220 YARDS

A driveable Par 4 for the longest hitters, most will be left with a short flick into a well protected green. There is plenty of borrow in the green. Your work is not over until the ball is in the cup

Hole 9 Par 4
STROKE INDEX 4

Hole 9 on The Bibury Course at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Course

WHITE 376 YARDS | YELLOW 354 YARDS | RED 363 YARDS

A great finishing hole, slight dog leg right favours a fade off the tee. The green is surrounded by mature trees, but a good mid iron will leave chance for birdie.
