List Of Wiltshire Union Golf Clubs
History Of The Wiltshire Golf Union
The Wiltshire Golf Union (WCGU) was established in 1924 when the constituting Clubs were: Chippenham, Kingsdown, Marlborough, North Wilts – Chisledon (later named Swindon GC and now Ogbourne Downs), North Wilts – Devizes, South Wilts, West Wilts. Pewsey Vale Golf Club joined the County Union in June 1924 (a 9 hole course no longer in existence).
Wiltshire Ladies Association (WLCGA) was formed even earlier, in 1910, and both organisations were formed to promote the welfare of the amateur game of golf in Wiltshire.
Amalgamation and Incorporation
In 2017 the decision was made to attempt to amalgamate the two organisations into one and at the same time Incorporate that emergent organisation.
Following a lengthy process, which included several consultations with England Golf, two unanimous votes were obtained from the two memberships and the new organisation Wiltshire Golf Limited was born on January 1st 2018
